The University of Michigan version of Search is currently available for personal computers using the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
We will assume that Search is to be installed in directory \\programs\srclib. If this is not the case, substitute the appropriate name in what follows. The network administrator should:
1. Create the \\programs\srclib directory, copy the search_srcware_windows.zip file into the directory, and unzip the file with Winzip or another zip utility.
2. Advise users to create a shortcut to the \\programs\srclib\Srcware.exe file on their desktop or in some other convenient location.
3. To verify that Search is installed correctly, copy the search_srcware_example.zip file into a work directory and unzip it with Winzip or another zip utility. Double-click the Srcware shortcut to bring up the Srcware editor, open the search_example.set file in the work directory, and run it. Compare the check (*.chk) file in the directory with the corresponding newly created list (*.lst) file. They should differ only in the dates.
We will assume that Search is to be installed in directory "C:\Program Files\Srclib". If this is not the case, substitute the appropriate name in what follows. The user should:

We will assume that Search is to be installed in directory /opt/local/srclib. If this is not the case, substitute the appropriate name in what follows. The system administrator should:
1. Create the /opt/local/srclib directory, copy the appropriate .tgz file into the directory, and unzip and untar it.
2. To verify that Search is installed correctly, copy the search_srcware_example.tgz file into a work directory, for example, ~/iveware, and unzip and untar it. Run Srcware with the following command:
Compare the check (*.chk) file in the directory with the corresponding newly created list (*.lst) file. They should differ only in the dates./opt/local/srclib/srcware ~/iveware/search_example.set
