Payment Information

Summer Scholars

Summer Scholars are participants who wish to attend courses at the Summer Institute but do not require academic credit or a formal grade for their participation. To begin the process of enrolling in the Summer Institute, complete the online Summer Institute application.

Payment is required, in full, prior to the first day of class. Payment will be made directly to the Summer Institute. Credit card, personal check, cashier's check, or international money order are all acceptable forms of payment.

Checks must be made payable to THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN with a notation in the memo field of ISR/SUMMER INSTITUTE.

University of Michigan Students

Students currently active in an undergraduate or graduate program at the University of Michigan who plan to take courses for academic credit will pay tuition in the same manner as in fall and winter terms.

The only additional step in the enrollment process for UM a student is the need for each student to complete a Summer Institute application.

The University of Michigan's philosophy is that a student's financial affairs are the student's responsibility. The University of Michigan's Student Financial Operations website should be consulted for all details related to tuition payment.

Summer Guests

Students who are not currently enrolled at the University of Michigan and who wish to enroll for academic credit should follow these steps for admission and enrollment:

  1. Complete the online Summer Institute application
  2. Complete a University of Michigan Summer Guest application. This form can be found on the Rackham website, http://www.rackham.umich.edu/

Summer Guests will pay University of Michigan tuition to attend a course within the Summer Institute. The University of Michigan's philosophy is that a student's financial affairs are the student's responsibility. The University of Michigan's Student Financial Operations website should be consulted for all details related to tuition payment.
