Ann Arbor is located 25 miles from the Detroit/Metro International airport, less than one hour from Detroit, and less than five hours from Chicago and Lake Michigan. Parking and Bus TravelParking on Central Campus at the University of Michigan is extremely limited, and especially difficult during Art Fair, held the third week of July. The City of Ann Arbor maintains municipal parking lots and structures. Parking is usually purchased by the hour, but a limited number of monthly parking permits are available. For more information about the Ann Arbor parking system, call Republic Parking at 734-761-7235. For regular transportation within town, participants are urged to use the free University commuter buses, and the Ann Arbor Transit Authority (AATA) buses. Participants may park free at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School (Stadium Boulevard at Main Street) or the Maple Village Shopping Center (Maple Road between Dexter and Jackson), and ride the AATA buses to campus destinations.
