FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Timing of grant
applications and proposals to use the MCRDC
Many researchers will
support their research at the MCRDC through a grant or
contract with a NIA, NSF, Federal agencies, or private
foundations. Should the researcher apply first for the
grant or for MCRDC access? Given the potential for
delay, researchers with a well developed project may
want to apply simultaneously.
Is research analyzing
Census Bureau data a Census Bureau purpose?
Not necessarily. The
Census Bureau collects and disseminates data. The
secondary analysis of these data need not be a Census
Bureau purpose. Researchers should study the definition
and examples of Census Bureau purpose on the CES WWW
page and be sure their proposals clearly state the
Census Bureau purpose.
