What's New 17-APR-2008 The Child Development Supplement will have an exhibit at the annual meeting of the Population Association of America in New Orleans, LA, April 17-19, 2008 (see http://paa2008.princeton.edu/ for more details) and the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association in Boston, MA, August 1-4, 2008 (see http://www.asanet.org/cs/root/leftnav/meetings/2008) . 06-MAR-2008 The Child Development Supplement exhibited at the biennial meeting of the Society for Research on Adolescence in Chicago, IL, March 6-9, 2008 (see http://www.s-r-a.org/submissions2008/ for details). 21-FEB-2008 The Child Development Supplement was part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the PSID at the 78th Annual Meeting of Eastern Sociological Society at the Roosevelt Hotel, New York City on February 21-24, 2008. The program is attached here. 11-AUG-2007 Study materials for the Child Development Supplement were exhibited at the annual meetings of the American Sociological Association held in 2006 and 2007 in Montreal, Quebec, August 11 - 14, 2006 and New York City, August 11-14, 2007. 30-MAR-2006 The Child Development Supplement exhibited study materials at the 2006 annual meeting of the Population Association of American held in Los Angeles, CA, March 30-April 1, 2006. 10-FEB-2005 The Child Development Supplement exhibited at the annual Population Association of America annual meeting in Philadelphia, PA, March 31 - April 2, 2005 (See http://www.popassoc.org/meetings.html for meeting details) and at the Society for Research on Child Development biennial meeting in Atlanta, GA, April 7-10, 2005 (See http://www.srcd.org/biennial.html). 30-NOV-2004 A research symposium entitled “Time Use in the Multiple Context of Children's Lives” will highlight research from the recently released Child Development Supplement, Wave II at the Society for Research on Child Development (SRCD) Biennial Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. The session is planned for Friday, April 8, 2005, 10:30 AM - 12:15 PM. CDS will additionally be hosting an exhibit at SRCD April 6-9, 2005. The Survey Research Center of the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan is hosting a 2-day workshop to highlight new empirical research focusing on the recently released Child Development Supplement... [read more] 13-AUG-2004 The Time Diary activity data from the second wave of the Child Development Supplement (CDS-II) are now available in the PSID-CDS Data Documentation Center . The time diary data were collected in the same way as CDS-I for one randomly sampled weekday and one weekend day. The codes were expanded to a four digit coding scheme to capture additional detail on extracurricular and community activities. There are more than 99,000 activity records for 2,569 CDS response children. 02-AUG-04 CDS II data files, based on data collected on 2,907 CDS children/youth aged 5-18 in the fall of 2002/ spring of 2003, are now available in the Data Center. These same children were interviewed in 1997 when they were 0-12 for CDS-I, also available through the PSID-CDS Data Center. Each data file is accompanied by a complete on-line codebook. In the Data Center, a map of the caregiver"s PSID IDs now accompanies all CDS downloads. This map can be used to link PSID main study individual data about the caregivers with the CDS data.
