The Michigan Program in Survey Methodology faculty are top scholars in their fields. All are actively conducting research across the full range of methodological problems and issues in the field. Program faculty are drawn from the research staff at the Institute for Social Research and from affiliated departments on campus, including Psychology, Sociology, Statistics, Biostatistics, and Communication Studies. The faculty employs graduate students as research assistants on funded research projects, providing opportunities for students to integrate education and experience during a program of study.

The University of Michigan is also renowned for the interdisciplinary nature of its research and teaching. Survey methodology as a discipline inherently draws on principles, concepts, and findings from several foundation fields. The faculty work collaboratively across disciplinary boundaries seamlessly. The study of survey methodology at Michigan engages students in learning across disciplines as a fundamental feature of its program.
