Abstract
This proposal received renewed support from the Carnegie Corporation in developing the social sciences in several Russian regional universities. It builds on the connections established during the initial grant with Petrozavodsk State University, Tver' State University, and Kazan State University.

The goals of this project are:

1. to further link the young scholars whom we have placed at these universities to the national and international community of scholars by involving them both in training and research programs,
2. to do more to further the awareness at these universities of that national and international community, and
3. to create greater incentives for these universities to be receptive to long-term roles in their social science departments for these young scholars.
